The secret to wedding day beauty is to prepare in advance and plan well. I believe it’s really important to not only look very special, but also ‘feel’    special. Brides always look beautiful when they are glowing from within. Here are my top 10 considerations and little tricks to ensure your day goes smoothly and you maintain your beautiful look.

1. Start a skin care routine early and invest in regular facials as much as your budget allows.

2. Work out a little more than usual. There is nothing like exercise to get the circulation going and enhance the glow of your skin. There are added bonuses of improving your overall energy and a boost to your confidence.

3. Avoid too much suntanning without block out protection. Don’t want tan lines either ! You are better off faking it.

4. Go easy with makeup shimmers. In small doses shimmers will add a touch of radiance, but too much will create a ‘showgirl’ look. Keep it subtle and elegant.

Allowing foundation, concealer or powder to settle into the fine lines.

Too much makeup can cake up into areas and often exaggerate fine lines even more. It also gives a flat, dull, lifeless appearance when the skin is covered in too much makeup. Once you have applied your foundation and concealer with a brush, take a cotton tip and remove the excess gathered in any fine lines . Then use a damp makeup sponge and pat it over the face to create a softer finish.

Eyebrows too heavily covered.

They look unnatural when pencilled in too dark and dense. Instead choose a colour that is close to your natural colour and using a fine slanted brush, dip into soft brow shadow and lightly stroke through your eyebrow.

1. To create waterproof eyeliner – dip a fine makeup brush into a waterproof mascara tube and use this to line the eyes. Eyeliner will stay put with little maintenance.
2. Spray the face with rosewater or evian to freshen any makeup look throughout a session. Very effective method when makeup has been on for a long period of time or under hot lights.
3. When you have very limited time to apply makeup – start with the eyes first and focus all your energy on this important feature. As time runs out, at least the person looks ‘done’ and you can pick up time as you go and take short cuts for the rest.
4. When using dark eye shadow colours, place a tissue under the eye area to prevent sparks of eye shadow from falling onto face. Or, spray your makeup brush with water lightly before dipping into eye shadow . It may make the colour appear darker at first, then it dries to normal shade.
