10 Makeup Tips For Everyday Girls
Belinda gives you 10 practical shortcuts that will make application so much easier.
- For a daytime makeup, let your natural skin tone shine through to give you a healthy glowing complexion. If you have freckles, don’t completely cover them, instead show them off.
- To make sure you choose the right foundation colour, test the colour above your jaw-line and not on your hand. The one that disappears on your skin, is the correct shade. Remember – always test colour in natural daylight for accuracy. Artificial light is very deceptive. There’s nothing worse than a mask line around your face.
- If you prefer a natural look, then choose shades that harmonize with your natural skin tone.(warm tones for yellow base complexions and cooler tones for rose complexions).
- The best way to stoke on colour of any kind is with a brush. Makeup can be applied more evenly and efficiently, plus it gives a much softer application. Always keep your brushes clean, as makeup does carry bacteria!
- The one tool a makeup artist can’t go without is an eyelash curler. It gives instant lift to the eyes, opening them right up, before you have even touched a mascara wand
- You can’t go past buying a multi-purpose crème stick. You can use it on your eyes, cheeks, lips, cheekbones. Every makeup artist has one. It will save space in your makeup bag and its quick and easy to use.
- Using a Makeup Primer will help your makeup stay put. It works in two ways- firstly, by smoothing out your skin texture to help create a flawless appearance and secondly, by preventing oils from absorbing/drinking away too much of your makeup. Hence, everything looks fresher, for longer.
- Here are a few tricks to help disguise unwanted dark circles and blemishes. I prefer to use a creamy-liquid concealer as it blends really well onto the delicate skin under the eyes without drawing attention to fine lines. Choose a concealer one shade lighter than your foundation colour and apply over the dark area, patting gently with your fingertips and blend well until the edges disappear.
- When it comes to covering spots, use a heavier concealer to make sure it stays in place. Using a fine-tipped brush, try to apply concealer onto the exact spot without spreading too much over the surrounding areas. Set with a little powder.
- To achieve a perfect ‘dewy’ complexion takes a little practice and the right products. Look for a foundation that has a low concentration of powder content, such as a light cream or liquid, or opt for a luminizing product worn over your foundation or moisturizer.
